How to curate a shade lineup for our Mineral Foundation

Our Mineral Foundation comes in 18 shades so there's a shade for everyone, but we understand bringing in the full line can be a bit daunting. Not only is it a lot of money to invest, but it's a lot of shelf space too. That's why we've created our recommended lineups, plus some tips on how to build your own if you want to customize it. Without further ado, let's get into it.

The Short Best Sellers

The lineup: 1N - Sugar Cookie, 2N - Almond, 2W - Caramel, 2.5N - Biscuit, 4.5N - Nutmeg

If you're looking for the smallest selection possible with the biggest return, these five are it. Most of your customers will be able to find a shade in this range, and if they can't you can fill in the gaps slowly as needed.

The Full Best Sellers

The lineup: 1N - Sugar Cookie, 1W - Cake, 1C - Peach, 2N - Almond, 2W - Caramel, 2.5N - Biscuit, 3N - Walnut, 4.5N - Nutmeg, 5C - Espresso

By adding a few extra shades you're able to add undertone options on top of depth options. This is half of our lineup, and usually the most shades any given retailer needs in their store.

Building a custom lineup

While we've selected our overall best sellers, skin tones vary wildly by region within the US. So here's a break down of each number and what skin tones they best fit so you can build your perfect custom lineup.

0.5 - 1

These shades best fit fairer white people and is a must for any store in the northern half of the US that serves a large white population. They're also strongly recommend for most stores in the south, unless you're on a tropical island where everyone is a golden tan all year long.

2 - 2.5

This is where most tan white people find themselves along with some fair Central/South Americans, most Eastern Asian, and fair Middle Eastern skin tones. Most southern states will find a lot of their customers in this range.

3

This band is where most Central/South Americans, Middle Eastern, and South Asian skin tones find their best fit. Darker Easter Asian and some light skinned black skin tones can also find their fit here. If you're in any of our southern most states, such as Texas, Florida, or California, we strongly recommend you bring in all 3's.

4 - 4.5

These shades are where darker Central Americans and South Asians would find their fit, along with many black skin tones. If you're in a predominately white area, 4.5 is usually the darkest shade we recommend carrying.

5

These are almost exclusively black skin tones. These are for areas like our beloved Baltimore that need a larger range for black skin tones. This covers some extra depth and is recommended for cities who serve a large black population, especially those in the south.
